Our Programs

The ARTiculate Narratives Project is a vibrant hub for artists and art enthusiasts, born from a shared love for creativity. We have evolved from a small group into a thriving organization, dedicated to empowering marginalized artists through a powerful platform. We aim to bridge the gap for marginalized artists by providing essential art supplies, connecting them with  professional development opportunities, and hosting diverse workshops that elevate their craft.

My Journey

Amrutha Alibilli is the founder of the ARTiculate Narratives Project, an endeavor that blossomed through the Do Good Accelerator Fellowship. She is an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, pursuing a double degree in Neuroscience and Spanish with a minor in Data Science. Her artistic spirit shines through her lifelong dedication to Kuchipudi Indian classical dance, a passion she has cultivated since the age of 10. As co-captain of Moksha, the university’s competitive Indian classical dance team, she collaborates with peers to weave contemporary music with traditional movements to champion social justice themes.

The ARTiculate Narratives Project was born from a simple yet profound belief: art has the power to connect, to heal, and to uplift marginalized voices. What began as a conversation with a Syrian Single mother during a virtual tutoring session has blossomed into a platform that celebrates creativity as a bridge between communities, cultures, and souls.

Outside the artistic realm, she is deeply committed to service. As a pre-medical student, hospice volunteer, health equity research assistant, and health policy advocate, she aspires to advance equitable healthcare access. Fluent in Telugu, Spanish, and English, she understands the profound impact of communication—both spoken and unspoken.

Through the ARTiculate Narratives Project, she hopes to highlight hidden voices and champion artistic talent from underrepresented communities around the world. Her vision is to redefine art not only as a form of expression, but as a catalyst for healing, empowerment, and reform.

Augustine Kulandai Raj

My Journey

Augustine Kulandai Raj was born on December 12, 1966, in Savariarpattanam, a small, remote village in the Sivagangai District of Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his primary schooling in his native village and pursued his secondary education at St. Mary's School, a residential school in Vickramasingapuram. Drawn to a life of service, he joined the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic religious brotherhood congregation devoted to education and social upliftment. He made his First Profession in 1986 and his Final Commitment in 1992

Academically, he holds an undergraduate degree in Physics. His early service included working in an orphanage and a home for visually impaired children. Later, he pursued a Master's degree in Development Education at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands.

Upon returning to India, he initiated a sponsorship program to support underprivileged children and served as its Program Director for five years. He then spent two years working in a tribal belt, focusing on the education and reintegration of tribal children who had dropped out of school.

In 2009, he moved to Paramakudi, where he was deeply touched by the neglect and isolation faced by children with intellectual disabilities. This led him to establish Arulchandru Special School, which he continues to serve as Director. The school offers love, dignity, and holistic care to children with special needs—championing inclusion and affirming every child's unique value.

Philip Kobimbo

My Journey

From a young age, Philip Kobimbo's passion for art blossomed spontaneously. He cherished every opportunity to draw, often copying images from newspapers and margarine cuttings. Paper scarcity led him to draw on ruled or squared pages from exercise books.

A profound love for sports heavily influenced his artistic development during his youth. He eagerly read the sports sections of "The Standard" and "Daily Nation" newspapers, finding endless inspiration in action shots of motor racing, car rallying, and football. The annual East African Safari Rally, then the world's greatest, particularly captivated him. He vividly recalls drawing numerous rally cars and, in doing so, unknowingly cultivated his artistic talent. His ability to capture resemblances in his drawings became an addictive fascination, prompting him to proudly share his work with family.

Secondary education at Menengai High School marked a significant turning point as he joined art class and experienced painting for the first time using Tempera powder paints. He even created an A4 pencil portrait of his grandmother. This early exposure led him to pursue a Diploma in Art and Design, followed by a Bachelor's in Education (Fine Art - Kiswahili).

His teaching career began in Kenya, where he taught Art, Design, and Kiswahili for 4 years. He then spent 15 years in Botswana, specializing in teaching art (Cambridge syllabus) before returning to Kenya. Upon his return, he taught at a Teacher Training College and later joined the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts (BIFA).

At BIFA, he was deeply affected by seeing passionate and talented young people denied access to art education due to academic requirements or forced to drop out due to financial hardship. These observations spurred him to establish Kenya Centre for Art and Design (KCAD), an informal art school and studio/gallery. Here, he continues to practice art while mentoring and training youth who encounter barriers to mainstream art colleges.
